Peter Rudy was raised in Madison, Wisconson, and graduated from Lawrence University (Appleton, WI) in 1987. Upon graduation, Rudy worked as a writer/producer for John Roach Projects, an Emmy Award winning film and television production company.

In 1993, he left JRP to attend the Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa, where he received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

Rudy's fiction has earned several national honors, most recently the Chicago Tribune's 1997 Nelson Algren Award. His work has also received First and Second Place Awards from the Writers at Work Fellowship Competition (Park City UT), as well as the Hicks Prize for Fiction. His stories and feature articles have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Quarterly West, Madison Magazine, and the Best of Writers at Work:1995, and anthology.

In addition to co-writing This Space Between Us, his screenwriting credits include the narration for Road Kill.
